There has been some curiosity about two out-of-state donors to the Save Our Town Hall effort. These people are Carl and Odessa Peterson and one of their children.
We wrote about them last summer when they were in town. They were interviewed by the paper, celebrating their 60th anniversary of their impulsive decision to get married in Town Hall. Read about them here.
And then go vote YES tomorrow to restore the magnificent old building we own. Lots of your neighbors support it, too.
When individuals feel a strong sense of civic pride, amazing things happen that support the well-being of the community.
With a sensitive design proposed by a qualified firm for a full rehabilitation and new addition, voters can make a strong statement that historic preservation is of great value to the North Kingstown community.
The North Kingstown Municipal Offices may be open for business but they leave much to be desired. While other Rhode Island communities proudly display their restored historic facilities, North Kingstown finds itself lodged in temporary, aging structures, searching for a long-term solution.
That solution is here, we just have to decide to take advantage of it. Let’s fully fund the Town Hall project, providing a permanent home for government offices that we can all be proud of.
Other Rhode Island communities have beautiful government centers and we can too! Vote Yes on Question 1, Nov. 5.
